We will meet with you as needed and on a regular basis, at least annually, but usually more frequently depending on engagement level and complexity of strategies. We monitor the investment accounts that we service on a quarterly basis.
We start by gathering the quantitative data; assets, liabilities, income (current & future). Then, the qualitative. This is why we call it Discovery. We ask questions about your goals and objectives that you may not have discussed before. Finding out what matters most to you will be very helpful in designing a plan towards independence that is aligned with your values. That’s the only way that you’ll stick with the plan.
We end by asking our final question, “What are your three most important financial goals?” This will require that you prioritize what matters most. There are almost always trade-offs when developing any plan. Determining the Big 3 helps us understand which trade-offs are acceptable and which are not.
The financial landscape has changed over the past few decades. We used to work 30+ years for one or two companies and receive a nice watch at our “retirement”. Then we would play golf, volunteer, or sit in a rocking chair on the front porch of our “paid for” home.
While this may be the experience of a few folks, this is typically not the case today. Many love what they “do” for a living and really do not anticipate an ending date. If they do, it will be much later than the traditional retirement age. Some of us will taper off by working less, travelling more, but still working. Still others are focused on helping others and making a difference in their world.
Whatever path you choose, we call this Financial Independence. Creating a plan to guide you down this path requires more than just saving for “retirement”. A Financial Plan will be extremely helpful.
Once you have created your financial plan, we can assist with the implementation phase. We have strategic partners in the fields of tax, insurance, and law who will help you bring your plan to life. We don’t simply “hand you off”, but stay with you all the way through this implementation phase.
We are proactive in contacting you for our regularly scheduled review meetings. Depending on your specific needs, objectives, and availability, we will meet as often as needed to guide you along this new path to financial independence.
